Very little is being done in the direction of conservation of water. It's pitiful to see people and government being apprehensive about addressing the water needs. Instead of speaking mere words, the government shoud involve the common people too in the business of conservation of water. With the government's will, huge areas of barren lands can be converted into ponds that can store the rain water and thus prevent the rain water from
flowing into the sea.
Instead of doing something effective, a lot of fuss is being created with regard to the conservation of water. We have been exploiting the water resources illogically and unwisely. We do not think about the crisis we are likely to invite in the near future. The worst of all the water exploitation is going ahead with countless borewells for addressing not the needs but the unfettered greed of the people.
The alarming sight of the water wastage is seen in several joints of the water-pipe through which the municipal authorities supply the drinking water. It is a common sight for one to witness the neglected bad condition of the municipal water pipe-line.
dejecting sight is seen in both private
and public organisations where
the officials and the staff are least bothered
about the running water as a result of the
damaged or worn-out pipeline or taps.
The most sarcastic thing about the government officials and the ministers is that they
have ample time to babble over unimportant matters or things that deserve the least focus.
Their primary urge is to give a vent to their
feelings by heaping criticisms over the opponents. This appears as if they convey the message in that the voters are at the mercy of the fate because they cannot overthrow the representative at least for the existing tenure.
Here, the fact that has to be
driven home is that the government aims at establishing new water-projects to address the needs of the people. These projects absorb huge amounts of public money. The artificial projects, in fact, are the potential source for the corrupt politicians and authorities to embezzle. Instead of embarking on the newartificialprojects, it would wise on the part of the government to revitalize the large number of ponds
across the country, which have been
either neglected since decades. Most
of the ponds have been converted into lay-outs or have been tresspassed by the settlers. Settlements should not cost the existence of life.
If a pond is devoured, it means nature would assume fury coupled with crisis,
